PT. Ravishankar Shukla University founded in 1964  as the largest university of the Chhattisgarh. The university started its functioning on June 1, 1964. This is the oldest university of the state . This university is also known as the PRSU as a Public university. The university name after the Minister of Madhya Pradesh. The university has a mission to provide higher education in research and technical departments. The university has 700 teaching faculty. This university is spread over an area of 207 acres.

This is a famous university of Madhya Pradesh. The university has 29 teaching departments in the university . There are 5000 students are enrolled in degree courses which was coming under the 100 faculty members. In the  2005 -06 , the university has 1,25 ,000 students. The university has 254 affiliated colleges in 11 districts. The under graduation degree courses are B.A., BBA, BCA, B. Tech, B, Ed with 3 and4 year time period. The post graduation degree courses are  M.A., M. Tech, M. Com. M.Ed. MBA, MCA with 2 and 3 year time period.
