It is known as the Board of secondary education BSE. The board was established in 1955 under the Act of 1953 Orissa education. The board provided the study material in the official language English. The board of education started its functioning in cutteck in 1955.The Headquarters of the Board was in Cutteck.

The Orissa Board of education has many central offices in these districts Bhubneshwar, Balasore, Baripada, Berhampur and Sambalpur. The Orissa Board provided many facilities for the  students.
