Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University Admission Test (SAAT) 2013
UG/PG Programme Admission-2013
Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University Admission Test (SAAT), a national level entrance test will be conducted by Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan-Deemed University for admission to various undergraduate and postgraduate programs of the university
The test is being conducted for different programs offered in different constituent institutes of the university
SAAT, the entrance test is conducted at 60 centers across 42 cities of India
The test is primarily a objective multiple choice type test and is at par with the standard of the test of other national level entrance tests
The university abides by the Govt policies on reservation for admission of women, physical disabled and SC/ST candidates
Short listed candidates are required to attend an open counselling for admission into various programmes of the university
Also, candidates with diploma in engineering / technology / pharmacy and hotel management are eligible for admission into regular courses under lateral entry scheme through SAAT

Lateral Entry Programmes
Under lateral entry (LE) scheme 20% of intake capacity of previous year in appropriate discipline and carry forward vacant seats of 1st year of Engineering/Pharmacy/Hotel Management/B.Sc Nursing will be filled up at the 2nd year level
These seats will be over and above the intake capacity

Eligibility Criteria
Bachelor Degree
B.Tech: Pass or appearing (in the year 2012) at 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects alongwith one of the following subjects; Chemistry/ Computer Science/ Information Technology/Biotechnology/Biology/Informatics/Statistics, by securing atleast 45% marks taken together in the subject mentioned (40% incase of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC category); or
Pass in Diploma programme in Engineering/Technology with less than 60% marks in aggregate
MBBS, BDS: Pass or appearing at 10+2 examination (in the year 2012) or any equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany and Zoology) and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the qualifying examination
In respect of the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in qualifying examination can be 40% instead of 50% for general candidates
For PH candidates qualifying examination marks is 45% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together
As per MCI/DCI guidelines candidates have to secure at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology) taken together in the entrance test
SC/ST/OBC candidates the limit is minimum of 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology) taken together in the entrance test
PH candidates the limit is minimum of 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology) taken together in the entrance test
All candidates must pass in English
The lower age limit is 17 year and the upper age limit is 25 year as on 31st December, 2012
Further provided that this upper age limit shall be relaxed by a period of 5 (five) years for the candidates belonging to SC/ST category only
B.Pharm: Pass or appearing at 10+2 examination (in the year 2012) with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with one of the following subjects; Mathematics/ Biotechnology/ Computer Science/ Biology/ Information Technology, by securing atleast 45% marks taken together in the subject mentioned (40% incase of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC category); or

B.Sc. in Nursing (Basic): Pass or appearing at 10+2 examination (in the year 2012) with at least 45% marks in aggregate (English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together) and 40% marks in aggregate for SC/ST/OBC candidates only
The lower age limit is 17 years as on 31st December, 2012
B.Sc in Nursing (Post Basic): Passed GNM examination, and registered with concerned State Nursing Council
Candidate must be a member of TNAI
5 years integrated BBA-LLB (Hons): Passed the 10+2 or equivalent in any stream with atleast 45% marks
Relaxable to 40% in case of SC/ST
Candidate should not have completed 21 years of age as on 1st August, 2012
Master Degree Programmes
M.Tech: Pass or appearing at B.E./B.Tech/AMIE/MCA/M.Sc in the respective discipline or equivalent
M.Tech in Biotechnology, candidates having B.Tech/B.E. in Biotechnology or related fields/M.Sc in Physics, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Life Science or equivalent/MBBS/B.Pharm/B.V.Sc with Biology as a subject at 10+2 level are eligible
Candidates having MCA degree are eligible for M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, Computer Science and Data Processing, and those with M.Sc (Maths) degree are eligible for M.Tech in Computer Science and Data Processing
Candidates with M.Sc (Electronics) are eligible for M.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering and M.Tech in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering
M.Sc in Computer Science and IT are eligible for M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering and CS & IT respectively
A candidate with B.Tech (Environmental/ Chemical/ Civil/ Mechanical/ Metallurgy) or M.Sc (Environmental Science/ Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Geology/ Life Science/ Botany/ Zoology) is eligible for M.Tech in Environmental Science and Technology
M.Tech Material Science and Technology candidate must have M.Sc (Physics)/M.Sc (Chemistry)/ B.Tech (Electronics and Communication Engineering)/B.Tech (Electrical Engineering)
For admission to M.Tech candidates have to pass the qualifying examination with atleast 50% marks
GATE qualified candidates are exempted from the entrance test, but they have to submit the filled up form
Admission to M.Tech programmes will be done on the basis of performance in SAAT-2012 or GATE- 2012 and personal interview taken together
After the interview, the final merit list will be prepared
MCA: Pass or appearing (in the year 2012) at three year bachelor degree in any discipline from any recognised university with atleast 50% of marks (45% incase of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC category) having Mathematics at 10+2 level or at +3 level
Candidates having business mathematics at +2 or +3 level are not eligible
MBA/MHMCT/ MHA: Pass or appearing (in the year 2012) three year bachelor degree in Science, Commerce and Arts/B.E./B.Tech/MBBS/BHMS/BAMS/BDS/BPT/BHMCT/BBA/BCA examination or equivalent in 2011 from any recognised university with atleast 50% marks (45% incase of candidate belonging to SC/ST/OBC category)
Candidate having a minimum composite score of 500 in MAT or any other equivalent test are exempted from appearing SAAT-2012
They are required only to submit the filled up application form
Admission will be done on the basis of performance in SAAT-2012 or MAT followed by group discussion and personal interview (GD/PI), all taken together
M.Pharm: Pass or appearing (in the year 2012) at B.Pharm examination from any recognized university with atleast 50% marks
The candidate having valid GPAT score can apply
GPAT qualified candidates are exempted from the entrance test, but they have to submit the filled up form
Admission into M.Pharm programme will be done on the basis of performance in SAAT-2012 or GPAT-2012 and personal interview taken together
After the interview, the final merit list will be prepared
M.Sc in Biotechnology: Pass or appearing (in the year 2012) at three year bachelor degree in Science or four year bachelor course in Agriculture / Pharmacy / Veterinary / Engineering / Technology / Medicine (MBBS/BDS) from any recognised university with atleast 45% marks (40% incase of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC category)
M.Sc in Nursing: Passed B.Sc Nursing (Basic/Post Basic) degree with 55% aggregate from Institution recognized by Indian Nursing Council with a minimum of one year experience either in teaching or clinical area but they should be registered in State Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife
LLM: Pass or appearing in bachelor degree in Law or studied Integrated Law course or equivalent thereof, from any recognized university, securing 50% marks in aggregate
Lateral Entry Programmes: Admission to 2nd year degree programme in Engineering, Pharmacy and Hotel Management for Diploma holders; pass or appearing (in the year 2012) at three year diploma course in Engineering/ Pharmacy and Hotel Management respectively with at least 60% marks in aggregate from State Council of Technical Education and Vocational Training (SCTE&VT), Odisha or equivalent
For Pharmacy, pass or appearing (in the year 2012) at two year diploma course in Pharmacy with minimum 60% marks in aggregate from Orissa State Board of Pharmacy (OSBP) or SCTE&VT, Odisha, or equivalent
Candidates appearing at the qualifying examination (in the year 2012) may also apply
Admit Card: Admit cards will be dispatched around 15 days before the date of examination
If an applicant does not receive the admit card ten days before the examination he/she can download the duplicate admit card from our university website www.soauniversity.ac.in
If a candidate does not receive or loses his/her admit card, the centre superintendent may issue him/her a duplicate admit card on receiving a Rs 50/- (Rs fifty only) with an application written by the candidate and two attested recent passport size photographs of the candidate identical with the photograph pasted on the original application
