National Institute of Open Schooling it was started as a project with by the Central Board of Secondary Education in 1979. IN 1986 Open School System for Extending Open learning facilities in a phased manner at secondary level all over the country. the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India set up the National Open School (NOS) in November 1989.

In July 2002, the Ministry of Human Resource Development amended the nomenclature of the organisation from the National Open School (NOS) to the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) with a mission to provide relevant continuing education at school stage.

National Institute of Open Schooling will be going to be conducting NIOS Board 10th Exam 2018 in March/ April 2018, candidate can check their, NIOS 10th Result 2018 NIOS Authority will announce NIOS Board 10th Result 2018 in second week of June 2018. NIOS 12th Result 2018 Their waiting time is now over as the National Institute of Open Schooling is all set to unveiled 12th Class Examination Result 2018 on its home site at www.nios.ac.in.
